Where Does the Lord Reside?

Heaven is My throne, And earth is my footstool. Where is the house that you will build me? And where is the place of my rest.
-Isaiah 66:1
Solomon in preparing to build a temple, that is a house for the Lord, recognized that God cannot be contained or placed in a box. 1 Kings 8:2727 “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!"
Yet God, is not too big to dwell with us in the person of Jesus. Immanuel which means God with us purposed through Christ to dwell with his people and to save them from their sins. John 1:14 speaks of the word becoming flesh and dwelling among us. Further along in John’s gospel we are told that the spirit of truth the Holy Spirit will be with us and in us. God is not too big to be near us and even to be in us who believe. Although the heaven of heavens cannot contain God he chooses to dwell in our hearts and the results- peace and rest.
May God bless you with himself today.
